Art direction is creative problem solving, but it goes much further than comping together concepts and putting them in a deck. Working with writers, assembling pre-pro materials, directing freelancers and production artists, getting down in the action to retouch, layout, design and package yourself, and learning new skills on the fly are all part of what it takes to bring an idea to production. Here, I’ve put together examples of all of the above from my experience in digital, print, B2B and B2C.
